This walled garden provides a secluded and private place for relaxation; however, the garden required structural maintenance and appropriate planting. A fully mature conifer dominated this garden creating dense shade, with further overgrown shrubs and climbers contributing to the overcrowded appearance.
Priority was given to clearing and reshaping of the existing framework, the landscaping was refreshed with new layout which will bring plants closer to the house and enhance the view from the patio area and indoors.
The colour scheme of the planting is pink and purple which will soften the space and provide all year-round interest with foliage and scent. Plant selection took into account the owner’s requirements for low maintenance balanced with an opportunity to enjoy active gardening and outdoor recreation.
石壁に囲まれたこの裏庭は長い間あまり使われていませんでした。庭の大部分に影を落としていた針葉樹を取り除き、レイアウトを新たにすることで植物が窓からも身近に見られるようになりました。同時に芝生の解放感も保持しています。ピンクと紫の色調を中心にしながら、香りや葉も楽しめる植栽です。管理しやすいと共に、これから少しずつガーデニングに挑戦してみたいという要望でした。
